Annual Report 2019-20

A very Good evening to everyone 

It is my privilege and pleasure to extend a hearty welcome to our distinguished Chief Guest His Excellency MostRev.Dr.Christudas.R, Auxiliary Bishop, Latin Archdiocese of Trivandrum, Dr. Gabriel Simon Thattil, Prof.of Commerce, University of Kerala, Rev.Dr.Gladin Alex, Manager of the School, Rev.Fr.Thadayoose Philip,Rev. Fr.Thomas Thadathil, Associate Directors, Centre of Excellence, Mr. Vijayaraj, PTA President, Rev. Fathers, Rev.Sisters, PTA Executive members, staff members, parents and Dear Children,

Once again I welcome you all on this special event of 15th Annual day Celebrations and Prize distribution ceremony.

Viswaprakash Central School has made its mark in the field of education in 2005 and functions under Viswaprakash Educational and charitable Trust run by the Board of Education of Latin Archdiocese of Trivandrum.

I have great pleasure in presenting to you the Annual Report of Viswaprakash Central School for the academic year 2019 –2020. We have made maximum efforts to impart quality education to the children from Pre-KG to Std XII, which enable them to face the challenges of the competitive world. Apart from academic excellence we aims to foster human values to the students that helps to make them good human beings and hence a better society. 

This report gives a glimpse of the achievements both in the curricular and co-curricular areas that have  been done by us and became successful due to the grace of the Almighty and the excellent team work of the management, staff, parents and students,

We are so happy to report thatthe 2018-19 batch of Std X and XII have brought kudos to our School by their excellent performance. We achieved cent percent result in both All India Secondary School Examination  and All India Senior School Certificate Examination - 2019. 10 students of class XII secured A1 in all subjects, 18 got distinction and 35 got first class. 61 students from Std X appeared for AISSE and secured 10 A1, 28 distinction and 23 first class. 

GouriNair.A, Abhayram.A. Nair, Abhijith S Raj, Adarsh Subramanian and Surag Sunil achieved the MERIT Certificate which is a special recognition from CBSE for students who have excelled in the field of academics. This was possible because of the continuous efforts by the dedicated staff and by taking extra classes and other remedial measures to improve them.

The year 2019 commenced on 6th June with an Opening Ceremony presided by Very Rev. Msgr James Culas who gave an inspirational speech to the students. School magazine 2018-19 was released by Rev. Fr. Thomas Thadathil on the occasion.

Our Manager facilitated five smart class rooms which helped the teachers and students to make the teaching learning process effective and interesting.

As part of world Environment day Nature Club organized various activities-Drawing competition for primary section, Quiz competition for upper primary, Essay writing for Secondary Section and Power point presentation for Higher Secondary. Tree saplings were distributed to the students by the initiative of forest department. 

Reading Day was celebrated on 19th June with a Special assembly conducted by Literary Club to give awareness on importance of reading. Reading competitions for all the sections were conducted in English, Hindi and Malayalam. 

Health and Sports Club organized an Essay writing competition and Debate in connection with Yoga day on 21st June. 

On 26th June Social Service club conducted poster making and Essay writing competition related to Anti Narcotic day. 

On 3rd July Investiture Ceremony was inaugurated by Mr. Lawrence Fernandez. Rev. Fr. Melkon, Director, Board of Education Ministry handed over the sashes, badges and house flags to the House Captains, Asst. House Captains, Club in charges and Class leaders. Class X & XII toppers were given cash awards and trophies sponsored by PTA for the outstanding performances of the students.

Students are grouped in tofour houses and eight clubs and the first meeting was held on 6th July with the co-ordination of Mrs.Sindhu.S, House mistresses Mrs. Kaladevi.J, Mrs. Vijithra.V.K, Mrs. Anchu.U.S& Mrs. Judit Antony and Club incharges Mrs. Sajitha.R, Mrs. Sreekala.M.R, Mrs. LalySelin.J.S, Mrs. Gini.K.S, Mrs. Sindhu Varghese, Mrs. Jeena. N, Mrs. Soumya and Mr. Deepu.C.S.

The introduction of house coloured uniform for the children of all the four houses was our new initiative of this year.

KCSL club was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Jacob Stellus on 10th July and its started activities in consultation with the incharges Mrs. Harija John and Ms. Greeshma Raj. 

On 23rdJuly students of Std IV – VII participated in Discovery School Super League Interschool contest. Abhirami.M.Bof IV B, Adithya S Anand of V B, StebishaJudin of VIII A and Soumya.R ofIX B Secured A Grade. Shawn Jose of VII A and Surya R of VI B qualified for the Second level of the contest.

Arts Festival was conducted on 29th and 30th of July. Famous poet Sri.MurkanKattakada inaugurated the function. Arts competitions were conducted and Green house scored highest points in the fest.

PTA General Body meeting was held on 3rd August. Class PTA representatives were selected and the new executive committee was formed with 23 members. Mr. Vijayaraj was elected as PTA President, Mrs. Ajitha.V.G, Teacher representative as secretary and Mrs. Aneesha .O.S as Treasurer were selected from the committee.

A Special Assembly was conducted by Science club on 7th August to remind about the hazards of Hiroshima day by a powerpoint presentation

Independence Day was celebrated with various programs of students of Blue house. School Manager Rev.Dr.Gladin Alex hoisted the flag, teachers and students gave Independence day message in English, Malayalam and Hindi.

Annual Sports Meet was inaugurated by Mr. Jolly CherianIPS,Rtd DCP hoisted the flag and handed over the Olympic torch to the Sports Captain and Asst. Sports Captain. Marchpast and Aerobic display by the students of four houses coloured the event and Red House got highest position with 289 points.

In commemoration of the birthday of Dr.Radhakrishnan, on 5th September, Teacher’s day was celebrated with the blessings of Most Rev.Dr. Soosapakiam, Archbishop of Trivandrum who is honoured by our Manager Rev.Dr. Gladin Alex. All Teachers were honoured by the students. Classes were handled by student teachers and Sreekutty S Kumar of X A, Gopika.A of IX B, Jikhy Jose of XI B, were selected as best student teachers. 

Onam was celebrated in school on 6th September with great enthusiasm. Onam message by Rev. Fathers, variety entertainment programs and games were the main attractions of the day.

Our students secured Runners up trophy for the Chins Eleven Football tournament organized by ChinmayaVidyalaya on 23rd September.

Magician Sri. Nath conducted a magic show regarding the ill effects of the usage of drugs on 28th September which helped the students to know about the after effects and health problems caused by drugs.

Sahodaya Arts Fest was held on 24th,25th and 26th October at Bright Central School, Kaniyapuram, 85 students participated and got First Prize in Folk Dance and Kuchupudi Cate IV - AkhilaValenteena of XI B, Bharathanatyam Cat III – Gopika.A of IX B, Light music Cat II- Rahul Raj of VII B, Painting Crayons Cat II -SaniyaDileep of VIIA Mimicry Cate IV Amithab of XI D, Second prize in Classical Music Cat II -Abhinand O.P,  and Third prize in Thiruvathira and Mime Cate IV.

Gopika.A of IX B secured A grade in Bharathanatyam in the State Level Sahodaya Youth Festival 2019 held at Carmel CMI Public School, Vazhakkulam. 

‘Keralapiravi’ was celebrated on 1st November with various cultural programmes under the guidance of Malayalam Department. Children were motivated by the Short film ‘EntePallikkoodam’ an initiative of Education Department of Kerala.

Students of KG – XII went for picnic to comprehend the wonders that are beyond the syllabus on 12th, 13th, 15th and 20thof November. 

A special attraction on the day of innocence - Children’s Day was the assembly conducted by the teachers with lot of programmes of KG and Primary students. 

A Cancer awareness program by Cancer Aid Society was held on 20th November which inspired the students to donate and to act as helping hands for cancer patients.

Our teacher Dr. Amritha led a seminar with the help of all section co-coordinators about the topic ‘Health and Hygiene’ on world Toilet Day.

On 29th November Trivandrum Social Service Society organized a workshop for the students of Std VIII – XII on the topic ‘Hazards of Drugs’, handled by Rev.Sr. Jinsa.

Nature Club members and teachers supervised a presentation and a rally on world Aids Day. Science Club members co-ordinated a discussion on the topic ‘Plastic free Campus’ on 30th November.

A motivation class for the students of Std X and XII was taken by Rev.Fr. A.R John to remove exam fear and it influenced them to improve the confidence level.

Trivandrum Sahodaya Sports Meet was held on 30th November and 1st December at LNCP Athletic Ground, Karyavattom, Our boys of Cate IV secured Second Position in overall points; Shanu Antony, Saran.S and Harikrishnan of XII D and Dincy of XI C were the top scorers of the meet.

Exhibition and Nutrition Day was held on 4th December. Itwas inaugurated by Mr. Binu Antony, HSA, Physics and a demonstration was given by Mr. Jose Wilfred, HSST. St. Josephs Higher Secondary School, TVM. Quiz club conducted ‘Dream Kids’ Intra School Quiz Competition and prepared the students for the Inter School Competitions. Literary club was selected as the best club through their remarkable performance in the Exhibition.

On 6th December, our students got second prize with a cash award of Rs.5000/- in the carol singing competition ‘Jingle Bells’ at St.Josephs HSS TVM.

On 9th December an Eye camp was organized by TSSS in collaboration with Chaithanya Eye Hospital, Trivandrum.

On 23rd December, Christmas Celebration was inaugurated by Rev. Fr.Thomas Netto by giving a meaningful Christmas Message. Carol singing and Crib making competitions along with mind blowing performances of the students increased the beauty of the celebration. 

Exams of the year 2019 – 20

First Periodic Test for X & XII: 17th June to 22nd June

First Periodic Test for I – XI, Second Periodic Test for X & XII: 15th July to 20th July

Third Periodic Test for X & XII, Second Periodic Test for IX & XI: 16th Aug to 22nd August

Half Yearly Exam for I – XII: 4th October to 23rd October

Second Periodic Test for I – VIII: 25th Nov to 30th November

Third Periodic Test for IX & XI, First Model Exam for X & XII: 11th December to 19th December

Sugama Hindi Examination was conducted on 2nd November Remedial classes for class X & XII commenced on 10th June. Open House was held on 28th June, 3rdAugust, 4th September, 8th November and 4th December. Parents met the teachers to assess the strength and weakness of their wards.

Second Model Exam for X& XII will be conducted on February. Second term exam for all classes will start on 9th March.

Teachers training is a continuous process which promotes teaching skills, develop better proficiency which assists in improving students learning. Our teaching faculties attended various workshops conducted by CBSE which helped to refresh their skills.

Teachers have the ability to shape the leaders of the future in the best way for society, to build positive and inspired generations. I am so thankful to all my staff members who worked tirelessly to complete all the activities of the year. May I also take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to management, parents, students, PTA executive committee members and all other well-wishers for the whole hearted support and co-operation.
